Hall Of Famer Rick Barry Thinks Ray Allen Traveled On Epic Game 6 Shot Against Spurs
Ray Allen made arguably the biggest shot in Miami Heat history.
But should it have counted? Hall of Famer Rick Barry says no.
Allen made a 3-pointer late that allowed the Heat to force overtime against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals. The Heat eventually won and went on to capture a second straight title with a Game 7 victory.
Barry thinks Allen should have been called for a traveling violation.
I don’t like the way the game is played in some situations," Barry told the i80sportsblog. I think it’s too much one on one. The officials are not calling the game as far as the rule book anymore. Like the shot Ray Allen hit against the Spurs. I was appalled when the NBA came out and said he was allowed a step to gather himself. Unless they changed the rule, that IS a travel. Ray Allen traveled on that shot. The Spurs should’ve been the champions of the NBA but they blew the call."
Allen's shot is one of the most iconic moments in league history. Travel or not, it was still an impressive play.
