The Miami Heat are seeing the retirement of another star who spent meaningful time with the organization.

Former Heat big man Hassan Whiteside is retiring from basketball after a 10-year NBA career. Whiteside played for the Heat from 2015 to 2019.

"Hassan Whiteside, informed the management of Pirates of Quebradillas of his intention to retire from basketball," elvacilondelbsnofficial posted on Instagram. "That's why he won't be back with his franchise."

He averaged 14.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks on 57.5 percent shooting in Miami. He was a dominant force on both ends of the floor, even recording a triple-double with blocks. This feat was recently accomplished by San Antonio Spurs' No. 1 pick, Victor Wembanyama.

His career progressed overseas in the Puerto Rican BSN with the Piratas de Quebradillas in 2023. He averaged 22.2 points and 13.5 rebounds in 37 games.

Whiteside also had tenures with the Sacramento Kings, Utah Jazz, and Portland Trail Blazers during his time in the NBA. His best years came on the Heat, where he led the league in blocks once and was named to the All-Defensive Second Team.

At 34 years old, Whiteside is ready to hang up his jersey to move on with the rest of his life.
