Heat vs. Hawks Takeaways: Miami's Big Three Unable To Come Out Victorious On Udonis Haslem Night
The Miami Heat were defeated by the Atlanta Hawks on Friday evening 109-108 thanks to a walk-off three-pointer by Hawks guard Dejounte Murray.
Here's a look at five major takeaways:
1. Jimmy Butler unable to lead Miami to victory on Udonis Haslem night.
On the night of Haslem's jersey retirement, Butler nearly delivered a win for the Heat legend. The All-Star forward has been shining since his return from injury, as he recorded 25 points and six assists on 8 of 10 shooting. It's important to note that Butler led the team with four turnovers. His efforts weren't enough to combat Murray's performance.
2. Murray battled for the win as the No. 1 option.
In the absence of star guard Trae Young, he put forth an impressive outing. Murray finished the night with 22 points and 11 assists on 40.9 percent shooting. Not to mention, he nailed a far-range three-pointer with two seconds left to push Atlanta to victory. The one-time All-Star is involved in trade rumors with the Heat as a potential destination.
3. Tyler Herro bounced back from an inefficient performance.
The Miami guard's inconsistencies persist, as Herro performed at a high level in tonight's contest. After a 17-point performance on 35 percent shooting against the Toronto Raptors, he scored 25 points on 52.6 percent shooting. However, Herro attempted multiple difficult shots down the stretch.
4. Bam Adebayo contributed to the win in every aspect.
An all-around exciting display by the two-time All-Star was overshadowed by Murray's game-winner. He scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and six assists on 46.7 percent shooting.
5. Duncan Robinson and Caleb Martin are the Heat's X-factors.
At their peak, Robinson and Martin can haul Miami to a victory. During their struggles, the tandem can play a critical role in a loss. In Friday's outing, Robinson scored 14 points on 4 of 7 shooting from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Martin tallied 10 points and eight rebounds on 44.4 percent shooting. Not to mention, the Miami forward recorded a block within the final minute of play.
