Miami Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra Provides His Opinion On The Miami Dolphins Season-Ending Loss

The Miami Dolphins were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs 26-7 in the Wildcard round of the NFL playoffs

The Miami Heat and Miami Dolphins have displayed opposite ends of success over the past two decades.

The Heat have won three championships, while the Dolphins hold the longest postseason victory drought in the NFL because of the Detroit Lions win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra gave his thoughts on the Dolphins season-ending defeat to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I watched the game last night, like probably a lot of us in South Florida. They're building something, and you feel something really good is happening, and they're not skipping steps with it," Spoelstra said. "There's a lot to be proud of from the season that they had, and you definitely get the sense that they'll be able to take another big step forward next year. That doesn't make it any easier during the offseason, as we all know."

Spoelstra has been at the helm for two of their titles in the past 20 years, in 2012 and 2013. Meanwhile, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel is new to the role in comparison to Spoelstra.

With the Dolphins year coming to a screeching halt, attention transfers to the Heat. Miami sits as the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference through 39 games.
