The Miami Heat spend most of the offseason chasing Damian Lillard during free agency.

The Heat failed in their attempt, with Lillard landing with the Milwaukee Bucks despite initially requesting a trade to Miami. Still, Heat general manager Andy Elisburg said they are content with their current situation.

He spoke about it recently during an interview with Heat sideline reporter Jason Jackson on Sirius XM.

"I think we were very very happy with the team we had," Elisburg said. "And the team we were able to bring back from last year's team and what we were able to add to it. If you can do something else, you always explore those opportunities and see what's out there. It came from a place of being happy with our team and who we are."

Last year the Heat made the NBA Finals despite playing without third-leading scorer Tyler Herro sidelined all but one game in the postseason. The Heat lost in five games to Denver Nuggets but still feel they can compete for a championship. The Bucks are Boston Celtics are generally considered the favorites in the Eastern Conference even though the Heat have made two Finals appearances in the past four seasons.

"We love our core group of guys," Elisburg said. "... We're very happy with the team we have. We like the competition it's been and it will be exciting to see how well it fits together."
