Miami Heat Move Into No. 6 Spot In East Standings After Cleveland Cavaliers Stun Brooklyn Nets With Late Rally
The Miami Heat now hold the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference standings after the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied for a 116-114 victory against the Brooklyn Nets Thursday.
With the Nets loss, the Heat move a half game ahead of the Nets and are out of the play-in tournament for now. The Heat and Nets play Saturday at Miami-Dade Arena.
The Nets led 109-100 with 3 minutes, 32 seconds remaining before the Cavaliers made a comeback. The rally was completed on Isaac Okoro's 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left.
The Cavs were led by Donovan Mitchell's 31 points.
The Heat also received help from the Orlando Magic, who defeated the No. 5-seeded New York Knicks 111-106 Thursday. That means the Heat are only 1.5 games behind the Knicks, who have lost three straight.
The Heat and Knicks play March 29 in New York.
