Magic Johnson is reportedly among a group to purchase Washington Commanders
In this story:

Miami Heat team president Pat Riley knew Magic Johnson before he became a businessman.

He noticed early on during their time with the Los Angeles Lakers Johnson had it takes to be successful after basketball. Riley was right and it hit its peak when Johnson was reportedly part of a group expected to buy the Washington Commanders.

According to Associated Press, the price tag was $6 billion

Riley has always spoken highly of Johnson When some questioned the Lakers' decision to hire Johnson president of basketball operations in 2017, Riley was among those to defend it.

“Earvin is a guy who has been a prolific businessman,” Riley told The Vertical upon the hire. “He’s gone into companies and changed management, changed the culture. He’s charismatic, gets up in front of people and puts an immediate face on an organization ... He’s the smartest player I ever coached. ... So why shouldn’t Earvin get an opportunity?”

Johnson's group includes Philadelphia 76ers owner Josh Harris and billionaire Mitchell Rales. It is set to become the biggest purchase in sports history.
