Miami Heat's Gabe Vincent Making An Impact With First And Second Units

Despite being a starter, Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent playing well with the reserves, too

Since becoming a starter, the key for Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent is learning to pick and choose his spots.

He plays on a team that has plenty capable scorers, including Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler.

So Vincent just waits his turn to score, impacting the game as a facilitator and defender in the meantime. He isn't required to have 19-point outbursts like against the New York Knicks Wednesday but he is capable if needed during the rest of the postseason push.

"You have three scorers that average over 20 a game," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Sometimes, the ball will find you in open spots. Sometimes, it won't."

What has impressed Spoelstra so much since Vincent replaced Kyle Lowry as a starter is his ability to flourish in any situation. He has excelled with the starting lineup and when on the court with the second unit.

"Gabe has the emotional stability to play with either lineup," Spoelstra said. "He gets it, what each lineup needs, which is a little bit different. When he's assertive, we're a better basketball team."
