Miami Heat's Nikola Jovic Was Perfect For Serbia Monday In FIBA World Cup
Miami Heat second-year forward Nikola Jovic is making a case that he is more than just trade bait.
Jovic had yet another dominant performance in Serbia's 115-83 victory against South Sudan in the FIBA World Cup. This time, he finished with 25 points on 9 of 9 shooting. He made all five of his 3-point attempts.
After spending his rookie year mostly in the G League, Jovic is expected to compete for a spot in the rotation this season. That's only if he remains on the roster.
He is among the Heat players associated in the deal to acquire Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, who requested a trade to Miami in early July. Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and rookie Jaime Jaquez are also part of the discussions.
At this rate, the Heat may want to try to keep Jovic out of any trade scenarios.
