Miami Hurricanes, FAU Set The Stage For Miami Heat To Continue A Memorable Basketball Weekend In South Florida

The Hurricanes men's and women's team and FAU all advanced in NCAA Tournament while the Miami Heat have big game Saturday against Brooklyn Nets

For so long, the Miami Hurricanes football team and Miami Dolphins earned all the attention in South Florida.

But no more.

Those days are over. Way over. After the weekend Florida Atlantic and the Hurricanes men's and women's basketball teams had in the NCAA Tournament, things have changed. The area is all about the hardwood because all three teams advanced to the Elite Eight. FAU knocked Tennessee while UM men defeated top-seeded Houston. The UM women took down Villanova earlier in the day.

With so much success, it's only fitting the Miami Heat join the party. The Heat play the Brooklyn Nets Saturday with a chance to improve their hold on the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. It would strengthen their chances of avoiding the play-in tournament, something they've strived for the second half of the season.

Maybe the Heat keep the South Florida hoops magic going.
