Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has accomplished a lot during his career. He is now ready to reach the ultimate goal: winning a championship.

In a recent interview with ESPN’s Marc Spears, Lillard reveals how high the desire to win is.

“It’s higher than it’s ever been,” Lillard said. “When you’re younger and you’re winning, you realize that you got time. When you establish yourself in the league and you know that you’re here to stay, you feel like you have time. The older you get, that just means more time that you’ve put into it, especially when you’re at the top of the game and you’re having all these individual accomplishments, it becomes more and more of a priority to have the ultimate accomplishment, which is why we play the game, in winning the championship. I would say the desire for that now is as high as it’s probably going to be. That’s literally the thing at the top of my list."

Lillard spent his entire career with the Trail Blazers but they repeatedly failed to surround him with a winning team. They made eight straight playoff appearances but never got past past the conference finals when they were swept by the Golden State Warriors in 2019.

If Lillard joins the Miami Heat, his chances of winning increases. Last season, they became the second No. 8 seed team in history to reach the Finals. The Heat have the on-court talent needed but they also have a successful organization. They have made 12 playoff appearances and won back-to-back championships under the leadership of coach Erik Spolestra and president Pat Riley.

If he wants to win a championship in the near future, Miami might be the best destination.
