Potential Miami Heat Target P.J. Tucker 'Will Not Request A Buyout'
The Los Angeles Clippers failed to meet the demands of forward P.J. Tucker, who hoped to see a change of scenery at the trade deadline for an expanded role.
Instead, it is reported Tucker will not request a buyout and will remain with the Clippers for the rest of the season.
"Los Angeles Clippers forward PJ Tucker will not request a buyout and will remain with team the duration of season after trade attempts fell short, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport," Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes posted.
Tucker has appeared in 12 games with the Clippers this season. He is averaging 1.2 points in 14.4 minutes in his limited role. His impact is felt in a leadership role, firing up the team to put forth their strongest effort.
Tucker is a proven contributor to championship-caliber rosters, as he was a member of the 2021 Milwaukee Bucks. During the Bucks NBA title run, the forward averaged 4.3 points and 4.8 rebounds. He has acted as a veteran leader for each team in the later years of his career.
His desire to win is admirable, but his contract likely scared away a multitude of contenders. Tucker has two years left on his contract, worth roughly $22.5 million.
