Western Conference Recap: Stephen Curry Scores 42 Points In Golden State Warriors Blowout Victory

Superstar guard Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors cruised past the New Orleans Pelicans, 130-102. Curry finished the night with 42 points, five assists, five rebounds, and two steals on 68.2 percent shooting. He also found his rhythm from three-point range, shooting 7-of-13. Outside of Curry, the Warriors core continues to struggle. Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Chris Paul combined for 28 points.
Zion Williamson scored 19 points, but All-Star Brandon Ingram was sidelined.
- Former Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton, along with Malcolm Brogdon and Jerami Grant, led the Portland Trail Blazers to a victory. Grant and Brogdon combined for 43 points; meanwhile, Ayton grabbed 23 rebounds. The Blazers win in a low-scoring affair, 99-91.
The Toronto Raptors forward duo of Scottie Barnes and Pascal Siakam held them in this game. Barnes finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Siakam scored 20 points on 42.9 percent shooting.
- The Oklahoma City Thunder move to 3-1 on the young season following a 124-122 win against the Detroit Pistons. Superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recorded his third 30-point performance in the last four games. Oklahoma City’s young core of Josh Giddey, Jaylen Williams, and Chet Holmgren had solid performances.
Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren could not find success against the Thunder. The duo combined for 25 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
- Luka Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks to their third consecutive win with his second triple-double of the year. Doncic recorded 35 points, 12 assists, and 12 rebounds on 50 percent shooting. Forwards Derrick Jones Jr. and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 43 points to Dallas’ 125-110 victory.
The Memphis Grizzlies fall to 0-4 on the year, despite Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. scoring 30 points. Guard Marcus Smart also added 23 points and three steals.
- The reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets remain undefeated after taking down the Utah Jazz 110-102. Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double along with two blocks on 75 percent shooting. Guard Jamal Murray added 18 points and 14 assists.
Center Walker Kessler rivaled Jokic’s stateline with 22 points and 13 rebounds of his own. All-Star Lauri Markkanen is proving last season wasn’t a fluke, finishing the night with 27 points and 14 rebounds.
- Anthony Davis was the reason the Los Angeles Lakers got the narrow victory over the Orlando Magic 106-103. Davis scored 26 points along with 19 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. LeBron James added 19 points, while guard D’Angelo Russell scored 28.
