Jazz-Suns Injury Report For Las Vegas Summer League Revealed
The Utah Jazz keep heading in the wrong direction on the injury front. Taylor Hendricks (hamstring) and Brice Sensabaugh (knee),and Keyonte George (ankle) will be on the sidelines for Friday night’s tilt versus the Phoenix Suns, per Eric Walden of the Salt Lake Tribune.
George is the latest to be struck by the injury bug. The No. 16 overall pick of the 2023 NBA draft turned his ankle on Wednesday night in Utah’s 96-91 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Although his MRI came showed no fractures, it’s uncertain how long Utah’s emerging star will be sidelined, but the Jazz confirmed via Twitter that George suffered a lateral sprain.
However, George’s misfortune will give other players opportunities to show the Jazz brain trust that they should be considered for a roster spot moving forward.
Second-year Jazzman Michah Potter should see an uptick of volume headed his way. Potter is with Utah on a two-way contract and has shown flashes that he’s ready to be part of an NBA rotation.
Potter started at center against the Los Angeles Clippers last Saturday, finishing with 18 points and went 7-for-13 from the field, while hitting a pair of threes and hauling in nine rebounds.
Utah currently has a crowded frontcourt, but Potter could be asked to step in at some point with Kelly Olynyk's future with the Jazz in limbo. At the least, Potter is a player to keep an eye on moving forward.
Another player that will be asked to step up is shooting guard Johnny Juzang out of UCLA. This summer has been a mixed bag for the second-year pro, but he did show potential when he scored 26 points versus the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this week.
Friday night's tip-off is at 8:30 pm MDT.
