Bold Trade Proposal Sends Raptors' Pascal Siakam to the Kings
The Sacramento Kings have been circulating NBA trade rumors since making a blockbuster deal in the 2021-22 season to acquire All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis from the Indiana Pacers.
This season, the Kings have been involved in many discussions centered around the Toronto Raptors duo of OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam, but Anunoby getting traded to the New York Knicks set the rumors ablaze. With Anunoby gone, many NBA insiders believe the Raptors are just getting started and could be looking to blow it up to rebuild around rising star Scottie Barnes.
Looking toward the future of the franchise, the Raptors are expected to move Siakam next, with the Kings a potential landing spot. Here is what a potential Siakam to Sacramento deal would look like:
Sacramento Kings receive: Pascal Siakam
Toronto Raptors receive: Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter, Davion Mitchell, Two Future First-Round Picks
The Kings are 19-12 on the season but have shown many weaknesses in their losses. Sacramento has been carried on the backs of All-Star duo De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, as inconsistent play from the supporting cast has proven the stars need more help.
Huerter, Barnes, and Mitchell were all praised heading into the season, but 31 games in, the Kings should be ready to give up on them.
Despite a 13-20 start, the Raptors have the right pieces to win more games. If they trade Siakam and get viable role players in return, they might have a better chance at building for their future. Huerter, a 38% career three-point shooter, is shooting just 27% in his last 13 games, as a change of scenery could revive him.
The biggest concern for Siakam is his expiring contract, as the Kings would certainly need confirmation that the All-Star wing would re-sign in Sacramento next off-season.
The Kings should not move this many assets for a half-season rental, but it would put them in a win-now position. The closing lineup of Fox, Malik Monk, Keegan Murray, Siakam, and Sabonis would be a nightmare for opposing teams.
While the chances that the Kings make a move for Siakam with their limited assets, GM Monte McNair should be monitoring all of his options to land the talented forward from Toronto.
