Knicks' Donte DiVincenzo Can 'Play with Anyone'

Donte DiVincenzo can bring a lot of versatility to the New York Knicks' backcourt.
In this story:

The modern NBA celebrates versatility and the ability to play multiple positions and styles. That's why it's so important and smart for the New York Knicks to sign Donte DiVincenzo this offseason

Even with many guards deserving of playing time on the Knicks roster, DiVincenzo has the ability to fit next to many of them.

"While it means a potential crowded backcourt along with Jalen Brunson, Quentin Grimes, Quickley and Hart, DiVincenzo is versatile enough with his playmaking and off-ball ability to play with anyone," Bleacher Report's Greg Swartz wrote when lauding each NBA team's biggest win of the offseason.

New York signed DiVincenzo to a four-year, $50 million contract, reuniting him with former Villanova Wildcats teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. That gives the Knicks a chance to unit a championship trio from college, one brusting with versatility and potential as they seek to build on a fifth-place finish on the Eastern Conference leaderboard.

DiVincenzo, 26, averaged 9.4 points per game with the Golden State Warriors last season alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. While DiVincenzo isn't expected to play with players on the same level as the "Splash Brothers," his presence should help New York tremendously. Versatility in playing styles can be what separates good teams and great ones, and that was a problem for the Knicks in their second-round  playoff series with the Miami Heat, in which they lost in six games.

If DiVincenzo adds that sense of long-sought variety, it could be what gets the Knicks closer to a championship.
