'Calm Down!' Josh Hart Rips New York Knicks, Washington Commanders Comparison

Josh Hart did not take kindly to a comparison between the New York Knicks and the downtrodden Washington Commanders franchise.
In this story:

Hail to the ... New York Knicks?

Such a crossover is made possible by Josh Hart, a Maryland native and current Knick whose NFL football loyalties lie with the Washington Commanders. As Hart and the Knicks prepare for a Monday night showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers (10:30 p.m. ET, MSG), the metropolitan reserve took a break by indulging in the Commanders' latest Sunday showdown. Washington was, ironically enough, also in Southern California, facing the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

Alas for Hart, Washington fell to the Rams 28-20, which proved to be enough to remove it from postseason consideration. The Commanders (4-10) will view the NFL playoffs from home for the seventh time over the last eight seasons.

A heartbroken Hart broadcasting his Washington woes on social media, asking for the meaning behind the final three games of their season.

"At this point, the Commanders should just call it quits and get a better draft pick," Hart posted on X as Washington fell behind early. "Why even try?"

One user, an apparent Phoenix Suns fan with the account dedicated to desert star Devin Booker, tried to compare Washington's situation to that of the Knicks, which Hart did not take kindly to.

"Calm yo (butt) down we 20 games in," Hart said. "We’ll be fine."

While it's easy to see uncomfortable comparisons between the Knicks and Commanders franchises, the former sits in a much more stable spot in its current league's hierarchy. As Hart hinted, the Knicks (14-11) have had a relatively decent first quarter of their season and currently hold the sixth and final automatic playoff spot on the Eastern Conference playoff bracket.

New York's struggles against superior competition (including a 144-122 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night) are concerning in terms of their championship prospects but there's at least a formidable foundation built with Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle in tow. The instability of the Commanders' franchise was on full display on Sunday, as supposed offensive cornerstone Sam Howell was benched as elimination loomed.

Ironically enough, the Commanders will come to the tri-state area next weekend, as they'll prepare to close out another lost season against the equally woebegone New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey (1 p.m. ET, CBS).
