Knicks All-Star Julius Randle to Appear on 'The Shop' Tour
Julius Randle is going on tour.
Per Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, the New York Knicks All-Star will be part of "The Shop Uninterrupted Live Tour" alongside performing artist/producer/actor Method Man. The tour opens at the Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse in Brooklyn on Aug. 2 (which will be free and open to the public) before moving on to Atlanta (Aug. 16) and Washington D.C. (Aug. 25).
"The Shop" is a talk show produced, and sometimes hosted, by LeBron James, one where celebrities discuss current events on a set made to resemble a barbershop. It ran on HBO for four seasons before moving to YouTube in 2022. These live sessions will be hosted by James' friend and business partner Maverick Carter as well as series creator Paul Rivera, both of whom hold high-ranking positions at SpringHill Company, James' production banner.
Bondy notes that Randle's debut in Brooklyn will his first time speaking publicly since the Knicks' made a flurry of moves this offseason: the team brought in Golden State Warriors depth star Donte DiVincenzo but also traded Randle's backup Obi Toppin to the Indiana Pacers for the meager return of second-round draft picks.
Randle has been one of the faces of the Knicks since joining the team in 2019. His tenure has polarizing to say the least. He has reached two All-Star Games (including February's in Salt Lake City) in a New York uniform but has left much to be desired in a pair of playoff appearances.
Last year's postseason trip, featuring the Knicks' first series victory in a decade before a six-game fall to the Miami Heat, was partly marred by an ankle injury suffered late in the season, one that required surgery though Randle is expected to be ready for training camp this fall.
