Knicks' 'Trendsetter' Josh Hart Shows No Regret Over Breast Milk Tweet

Whether he returns to the New York Knicks or not, Josh Hart appears ready to wear an unusual label for the rest of his NBA career.

Josh Hart had to get something off his chest and now it might follow him for the rest of his NBA career.

Even as the 2023 NBA Finals tipped off on Thursday night, a tweet from the New York Knicks depth star, in which he asked his 500,000-plus followers if any fellow new fathers had ever "tasted (their) significant other's breast milk," has been the talk of the Association's social media scene. The posts were enough to get Knicks/college teammate Jalen Brunson to publicly, if not facetiously, unfollow Hart and encourage his own followers to do so as well.

Hart had a chance to address his virtual query during the alternate broadcast of the Finals' opener on ESPN2 known as "Stephen A.'s World." Host Stephen A. Smith, one of Hart's biggest detractors of the tweet beyond Brunson, was apparently still thinking about the post, as he could hardly get the question out before humorous fury consumed him.

One of the newest Knicks appeared perfectly content to have the tweet follow him for the rest of his career, jokingly hinting that he might become a "trendsetter."

"I know every new father has wondered this," Hart insisted during first quarter action between Denver and Miami. "It was brought up (when) we had family and friends over. It was brought up, I never did it. Somehow I get finessed into doing a little milk taste test. I'm not going to lie, it was exceptional, it was like sweet almond milk."

Hart and his wife Shannon welcomed twins last month, the boys arriving just before an Eastern Conference Semifinals game between Hart's Knicks and Miami. He continued to offer his positive thoughts to Smith and co-host/Indiana Pacers rookie Bennedict Mathurin, calling the taste "smooth."

Even Hart was among those disgusted by the concept when it was first brought up, but that "it happened" and he's "glad (he) did it." When Smith declared that "Josh Hart is now synonymous with breast milk," Hart sounded perfectly content with that and he knows that Knicks fans will be as well if he comes back to New York with newfound powers.

"If I shoot 45 percent from three, it might be because of that," Hart joked. "People might see that and it might be a new trend ... I might be a trendsetter!"

Time will tell if Hart is able to showcase his supposedly newfound powers in New York: many expect him to turn down a $12.9 million player option for the 2023-24 season and hit the free agency market. The milky schism with Brunson aside, Hart would be welcomed back in New York considering the impact he made since coming over in a February trade deadline deal with Portland. He averaged 10.2 points and seven rebounds in 25 regular season appearances, which saw them post a 17-8 record and lock up the Eastern Conference's fifth seed.
