Contract Terms Revealed For Newest Laker Taurean Prince
Terms of the deal for your Los Angeles Lakers' newest swingman acquisition, ex-Minnesota Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince, have now been revealed.
Prince's CAA agents Steven Heumann and Richie Beda inform Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that they have signed inked Prince to a one-year deal using the club's $4.5 million bi-annual exception.
While it's a bit of a bummer that the athletic 3-and-D combo forward is only under contract for one season, this is quite a reasonable agreement, all things considered.
Prince ultimately seems to slot in as a replacement for Troy Brown Jr. (who switched teams with Prince today in agreeing to a new contract with Minnesota), and perhaps LA shooting guard Lonnie Walker IV, who is coming off a $6.5 million deal during a largely successful first season as a bench scorer for the Lakers, but doesn't give the club much defensively.
Last season, the 28-year-old out of Baylor University averaged 9.1 points on .467/.381/.844 shooting splits, 2.4 rebounds, 1.6 dimes, and 0.5 steals in 54 games, mostly off the bench. That 38.1% three-point shooting arrived on a solid 3.6 tries a game in just 22.1 minutes per, proof that Prince is a willing and able volume long range shooter.
