Expert Views New Lakers Wing as Odd Man Out in 2023 Rotation

Will he get a chance?
In this story:

The Los Angeles Lakers can either be the biggest blessing or a wrong turn for young players in the NBA. We've seen the likes of Malik Monk and Lonnie Walker IV thrive playing in the big market and prove that they still have winning potential within them. However, we've also seen Kendrick Nunn and Malik Beasley fail to produce and get on bad terms with the fanbase. So much baggage comes with playing for a historic franchise and alongside superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

We can only hope that Cam Reddish is able to pan out with the Lakers and seeing that they've been aiming to add him for some time now, he could fit into their culture perfectly. There are few things that The King loves move than having knockdown shooters on his team and with all of the attention he commands, Reddish will get looks when he plays.

The only question is... how much will he play?

Both James and Hachimura became the go-to options on offense on the wings in the postseason and Jarred Vanderbilt stayed on the floor due to being a pest on defense and slasher on the other side. Considering that Taurean Prince was also brought in this summer and Max Christie is set to receive more minutes this year, The Athletic's Jovan Buha believes it will be tough for the former lottery pick to find a place in the rotation.

"With a projected 10-man rotation, three players aren’t playing regularly: Reddish and rookies

Jalen Hood-Schifino

and

Maxwell Lewis

."

It's no surprise that both of LA's rookies in Jalen Hood-Schifino and Maxwell Lewis won't be getting a ton of run but at this point in Reddish's career, he needs to prove he can impact games in a positive manner.

We all saw what Lonnie Walker IV was able to accomplish when he got a chance against the Golden State Warriors so let's hope Reddish makes the most of his opportunities.
