Hall Of Fame Laker’s Finals-Worn Jersey Expected To Sell For Multiple Millions

One of the all-time greats!

Former Los Angeles Lakers legend and Hall of Fame center Wilt Chamberlain's jersey from Game 5 of the 1972 NBA Finals is set to fetch a hefty price on the auction market.

The Big Dipper's game-worn uniform could go for as high as $4 million once on the open market according to collectible's broker Sotheby's.

According to Sotheby's brand head of streetwear and modern collectible items, such a valuable possession on the market is very rare to find and thus warrants the high price tag.

"This jersey holds an extraordinarily significant place in the history of Los Angeles, not only adorned by the man many consider to be the greatest player ever to step on the court, but as a relic from one of the greatest franchises in sports history."

Chamberlain played for the Lakers after stops in Philadelphia and San Francisco and his place in NBA history is more than well documented by this point.

One of the league's most prolific scorers and rebounders, Wilt the Stilt's legendary career ended in Los Angeles with hardware for his efforts in this 1972 series against the New York Knicks.

Despite his passing in 1999 at the age of 63, Chamberlain's status as an icon was only amplified as younger generations are continuing to learn of the center's statistical greatness that is plastered over NBA record books to this very day.

His 100 points scored in a single game (scored while he was a Philadelphia 76er), captured by a singular iconic image of the center holding a piece of paper with the century numeral written out still stands as an NBA record.

Averaging over 50 points in just his third season in the league, Chamberlain also played over 48 minutes per game that year as well, both seemingly unbreakable records to add to the list.

One lucky buyer will have a piece of rare memorabilia from not just Laker legend but one of the very best basketball has had to offer at any point in history.
