Lakers News: How Draymond Green Feels About Jordan Poole’s Late-Game Three

Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green recently took to his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, to weigh in on teammate Jordan Poole's misguided long three-pointer that he hurled at the bucket from 27 feet out, with 9.7 seconds remaining in Game 1 of the Warriors' series against your Los Angeles Lakers.
The Golden State shooting guard's whiffed triple would have tied the contest at 115-115. Instead, he missed, and the Warriors had no choice but to foul Dennis Schroder to stop the clock and hope he missed his free throws. Instead, he made both to ice the game, a Lakers upset win, 117-112.

"I know everyone's talking about the last three that he missed. Quite frankly, I like the shot. You obviously tell him to eat up the space and take the three a little bit closer. He could've eaten up the space but Jordan can shoot the ball and he got a good look at it," Green opined.
"Yes, you want him to take a couple steps in and get an even closer three, but Jordan taking that three is not why we lost that game," Green continued. "I know everyone's going to point to that one play and say, 'He should've never shot that three!' Prior to that three, he was 6-for-10 [from deep]. You got a guy that you know can shoot the p--- out of the ball and you get an open three [from him], you live with it. There were some things that I personally could have done to make that we weren't even in that position."
Poole would go on to finish with 21 points off the Warriors' bench, on 7-of-15 shooting (6-of-11 from deep thanks to that miss) and 1-of-1 free throw shooting. He also chipped in six dimes and a steal, but was whistled for five fouls.
As we previously reported, Turner Sports' Channing Frye and Taylor Rooks questioned the call (to hilarious effect) during an NBA on TNT Twitter live stream game broadcast, while Indiana Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who also provided commentary during the chat, felt that the shot was understandable.
