Lakers News: LA Free Agent Target, Playoff Nemesis Lands With West Rival

He got the bag from a rebuilding squad...

Shortly after free agency in the NBA kicked off, the Lakers had a meeting with one of the more interesting free agents on the market. The team met with guard Dillon Brooks, who they just saw in the postseason with the Memphis Grizzlies. However, it became apparent pretty fast that the team may not be able to afford Brooks. They pivoted over to guard Gabe Vincent from the Miami Heat and Brooks was left to look elsewhere. Well he got the bag from the Houston Rockets, signing a four-year deal that is worth $80 million.

Brooks is known for his aggressive nature on the court and it was on full display against the Lakers in the postseason. He was a nuisance for LeBron James but it was LA who got the last laugh in the end.

It makes sense why the Lakers looked to possibly bring him in as they have with other rivals in the past. Think Ron Artest or Matt Barnes from years ago.

Brooks averaged just 10 points and three rebounds per game against LA in the six game playoff series. For all his talk, he vastly didn't live up to expectations that he set with his words. He also only shot 23 percent from deep and made things harder for the Grizzlies.

Now that he is in Houston, it should be more fun when the Lakers face off against the Rockets this season. It'll certainly be some of the most watched games due to him being on the roster.
