Lakers News: Anthony Davis Has Very High Praise For Austin Reaves
Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Austin Reaves played a huge role in LA getting a much-needed win over the Golden State Warriors in their first game back from the All-Star break. The young guard scored 17 points, dished out four assists, and did not miss a single shot. He did all of this in just 19 minutes off of the bench and made life easier for a struggling LeBron James.
This type of play has become the norm for Reaves over his first two seasons in LA. He has found himself in a "Swiss army" type of role where he gets ball-handling duties, certain defensive assignments, and even gets called on to take big shots at the end of games.
His playing style fits in beautifully next to James and Anthony Davis. Whether he starts or comes off of the bench, Reaves always plays with the same energy and hustle that got him called up from the South Bay Lakers last season.
Following Reaves' efficient game against the defending champions on Thursday night, Davis was asked if he was surprised by how well the former Oklahoma Sooner performed.
“At this point, he does it all. He shoots, he puts it on the floor, he playmakes, he’s tough physically," said Davis. "Nothing surprises me with Austin. He continues to get better and better each and every day."
This is quite the praise coming from a star big man like Davis who is an NBA champion and an eight-time All-Star. While many players haven't been able to handle the bright lights and pressure playing for the purple and gold, Reaves has embraced it and risen to the challenges. He is still just 24-years-old and looks to have a long career with the purple and gold starting off with a potential extension this offseason.
