Lakers News: Anthony Davis Status, Starting Lineup Announced Ahead Of Memphis Matchup
Your Los Angeles Lakers will be trotting out a familiar first five tonight, after all. Anthony Davis, who was probable to play all day, will be in the lineup, as we expected.
LA is hosting the 38-25 Memphis Grizzlies tonight at Crypto.com Arena, in a game that it surprisingly could win, thanks to three huge Memphis rotation absences.
Though nominal Lakers starting point guard D'Angelo Russell did see his status for this evening's game upgraded to merely "questionable," it appears his sprained right ankle isn't quite ready for prime time just yet.
In his stead, capable backup Dennis Schroder will once again start for Los Angeles at the point. Volume shooter Malik Beasley will play next to him in the backcourt at the two-guard spot, Troy Brown Jr. will continue to offer solid two-way contributions at small forward, and power forward Jarred Vanderbilt and center Anthony Davis will fill up the frontcourt with their athletic, physical defense.
For Memphis, Tyus Jones will start for Ja Morant, while the other starters from the Grizzlies' last bout with LA remain unchanged: Desmond Bane at shooting guard, Dillon Brooks at small forward, All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. at power forward, and Xavier Tillman in for the still-hurt Steven Adams at center.
Tip-off for Tuesday's game is 7:00 p.m. PST, and stay tuned at halftime for a special ceremony as the team retires Pau Gasol's No. 16 jersey.
