Lakers News: Austin Reaves Receives Rave Review From Team USA Head Coach

He is making quite the impression!

Austin Reaves has been making a ton of noise over the past couple of months as he was able to put on a show all throughout the NBA playoffs where he played a key role in the Los Angeles Lakers making the WCF, cashed in on a new deal and has now been suiting up alongside a number of rising stars for Team USA.

Reaves is representing his country with the likes of Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Halliburton, Jaren Jackson Jr. and more on the court with him and footage has been surfacing all over the internet of their practices and scrimmages as they stay active leading in to their official FIBA World Cup games.

And with head coach Steve Kerr leading the way for this young squad, he'll have the opportunity to help develop them in some different environments and use them in unique roles. In fact, Kerr touched on some of the things he loves about Reaves so far and did not hold back.

“Just feel, vision, awareness, and understanding of the game,” said Kerr of what makes Reaves a “connector.” “The ball just goes to the right spot, the right cut is made. Austin made a play yesterday where he made a drive and kick; he was kind of behind the defense, and he worked completely behind the defense, flashed kind of in the middle of the paint, caught it and swung it through. He had feel; you have to have awareness to make a play like that. So connectors are guys who make those types of plays, and the game just makes sense, and you end up getting open shots.”

Kerr has coached for and against some of the basketball players in the world and for him to be so high on Reaves already is amazing to hear!
