Lakers News: D'Angelo Russell Reacts to Tying Nick Van Exel's Three-Point Record

D'Angelo Russell spoke to reporters after tying the franchise record set by Lakers legend Nick Van Exel.

The Los Angeles Lakers came away with a big win last night against the Atlanta Hawks. The win was secured by big performances from LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D'Angelo Russell.

Russell went 6-10 on three-pointers and has now tied the franchise record for threes that had been set by Lakers legend Nick Van Exel.

Russell spoke to reporters after the game and revealed what it means to have been able to tie the record with his family in the building.

"Once again, that's another beautiful feeling knowing what this organization means to me. Obviously, it's adopted me from a very young age being a rookie in this league to have my name in the record books at multiple different organizations...I just give credit to the work that I put in."

Russell made his 183rd three-pointer with the Lakers last night, tying the record set by Van Exel. There is plenty of basketball left, so Russell can "smash" the record with the intent he previously stated.

Even more impressive is Russell performed the one-leg three which was the signature move from Van Exel.

Russell's shooting threes with such success has elevated the Lakers, and they will need him to continue his streak to secure big wins with the remainder of the season.

The Lakers are attempting to ignore having to play the dreaded play-in playoff bracket. With Russell shooting from a distance at a high level, they can certainly achieve that.
