Lakers News: Experts Divided On How LeBron James Will Handle 2024 Player Option

Will he be out of LA.... or even the NBA altogether?
In this story:

With everything going on in the basketball world right now, it's very easy to forget that LeBron James has a player option on his contract after the 2023-2024 season. That means that he can choose to play his final game with the purple and gold and perhaps even in the NBA altogether if things don't go the way he hopes this time around. James has made it clear that his final goal in the league is to play at least one season on the same squad as his eldest son, Bronny, but following his own serious health concerns at the moment, taking care of his body is the top priority right now.

The Los Angeles Lakers made a number of key moves in the 2023 offseason to take a squad that made it to the Western Conference Finals and actually make it deeper. Two important guards in Dennis Schroder and Lonnie Walker IV made way to new teams but GM Rob Pelinka made sure to replace them with very seasoned veterans in their place.

James' scoring and ball-handling duties will not be anywhere near as heavy as they've been in recent seasons and even though he is still a vital part of the organization, the hope is that he won't have to wear himself down in the regular season and instead can prioritize being in full gear for the playoffs.

But looking at what could happen after this year, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst touched on this subject in a recent episode of his own 'Hoop Collective' and he simply put it up in the air by asking: 'Who know what LeBron James is going to do in a year?'.

James has never been one to share his cards early... even when he teased retirement after getting knocked out by the Denver Nuggets last year, the entire sports world went into shock. Never believe anything is out of the question for The King and do not take any seasons of his for granted!
