Lakers News: Fresh LA Backcourt Boasts Special Bond

How long will this stick?

Your 2023-24 Los Angeles Lakers have been the definition of hot and cold. At times, they look like the best team in the league, knocking down shots, playing elite defense, and playing together on the offensive end. However, sometimes they look like they can't seem to do anything right; they can't stop anyone, they look lethargic on offense, and the rotations are a mess.

It's been hit or miss for the Purple and Gold, but their win over the Oklahoma City Thunder was undoubtedly a hit. The Lakers looked great throughout, and while superstar big man Anthony Davis led them, the others certainly did their part.

It's hard to build chemistry, especially with a team like Los Angeles, who are in trade talks every season. However, there's no lack of chemistry when it comes to the combination of LA guards Austin Reaves and D'Angelo Russell.

From the start, these two have connected like two puzzle pieces, and it's evident they love playing alongside one another. After the game, the two were on the podium together and shared what it's like to get significant minutes together.

"This is the lineup that we started with this year and it's something that we feel comfortable with, we've had some chemistry together," Reaves said. "We like what we can do with this group."

These two not only get along on the court, but it's clear they get along off the court, and it goes both ways.

This backcourt duo was big in Monday's win, combining for 29 points on 11-for-22 shooting, five rebounds, and 13 assists while being a +12 on the court.

Reaves and D-Lo have been at the forefront of trade talks this season, but it doesn't seem to bother their chemistry or play. It's great to see these two have such a great relationship, and we'll see if that continues to be the case after this year's trade deadline.
