Ever since Pau Gasol touched down with the Los Angeles Lakers at the end of the 2000's, it's safe to say that he changed the team's offensive scheme up until his final game with the franchise. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith recently showed some regret for his infamous rant regarding the deal that landed LA Pau Gasol in exchange for Kwame Brown, but the upgrade was very clear.

Gasol was already very polished when he kicked off his stint with the purple and gold and he had the ability to shoot the mid range and find open teammates when he was in the low post. Superstar Kobe Bryant had been waiting for the franchise to pair him with another exceptional big man after Shaquille O'Neal was traded to the Miami Heat and they finally got him the Spanish star ahead of the 2007-2008 season and the result was three straight Finals appearances with two titles.

We had the pleasure of watching Gasol get inducted into the Hall of Fame recently and in an exclusive interview with the Los Angeles Times, he spoke on how he truly felt about the Triangle Offense, a system implemented by head coach Phil Jackson.

"It was pretty. I don’t know if I would call it easy, but it was pretty organic and pretty immediate, because they put me in position where I was very comfortable to operate from. Whether it was to make plays for my teammates, and with the spacing and put me in the post most of the time, and then on the elbow some of the time, and then running pick-and-roll with Kob, whether it was on the side or on the top of the floor, it was just bread-and-butter. I understood the game. I had a good basketball IQ and I could recognize my teammates being open."

The Triangle Offense certainly brought the most out of Gasol's skillset and allowed him to play the game the right way!
