Lakers News: Impending LeBron James Signature Shoe Pays Tribute To Music Superstar
LeBron James continues to roll out out some of the best basketball shoes on the market right now ahead of his 2023-2024 season with the Los Angeles Lakers and he's made sure to stay up to date with the direction in which sneakers are evolving. It's been clear that low-cut technology has been on the rise and even though Paul George's own signature line is rumored to come to an end with Devin Booker and Ja Morant becoming faces of the brand.
However, James' contract with Nike is rumored to be for his entire lifetime and worth around $1 billion. His earlier models were much bulkier and meant to match his own unique play style. They were usually always high-tops and looked much different compared to the likes of Kobe Bryant's and Kevin Durant's own models but just like The King has had to change up his game with age, he has done the same with his kicks.
During this summer of 2023, James has been all over... attending soccer matches, Dodger games and even walking out with Drake at one of his 'It's All A Blur' shows. However, he has also been able to stay in the gym like always and he's been showing fans some sneak peaks of his upcoming 'LeBron 21's.'
And James has made sure to show love to late music superstar Prince with one of his upcoming color ways coined the 'Purple Rain.'
Sneaker News was able to provide fans with specific details on the pending release.
"Initially revealed at the start of the month, the silhouette pays tribute to The Artist’s Grammy Award-winning song “Purple Rain” while simultaneously serving as an overtly effective Lakers color blocking. Transitioning over the low-top construction from last year’s model, the LeBron 21 embarks on a clad-tumbled leather upper draped in soft “Violet Dust” hues. The muted lavender tint is employed further along the oval laces and tongue construction while striking “Melon Tint” contrasts amplify the bulbous profile swooshes, tongue tab logo and the middle-most lace loops. Elsewhere, an iridescent “Purple Cosmos” finish amplifies the Zoom Air cushioned heel while bursts of yellow return to outfit the heel counter’s hourglass embroidery."
