Lakers News: Latest Rob Pelinka Comments Confirm LeBron James Has Made Retirement Decision
Since the Lakers were bounced out in the playoffs, there has been much talk about whether or not star LeBron James would actually be retiring. The forward made some interesting comments after the teams final game against the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs and it sparked much discussion among fans and media alike.
Most in the industry don’t believe that James will indeed retire and that it was more of him being frustrated and tired after the long season that didn’t end in a title. We have heard no official word on the status of any James retirement but he has dropped some hints along the way.
After the Lakers free agent signings, James posted photos of each player on his instagram. If he was planning on retiring, why would he do this? He also liked the teams instagram announcements for each player. Again, it would be quite the coincidence for a player that is as calculated as James to just randomly do this.
But General Manager Rob Pelinka recently spoke briefly about James and the possible retirement, adding more fuel to the fire that the King is indeed not leaving the game this offseason.
If James is indeed "putting in behind the scenes work", then he likely isn't retiring and is planning to return for his 21st season. When we last saw the King, he dropped 40 points in the Lakers elimination game so he has shown that he is still at the top of his game. He may not be the player that he once was but his greatness remains strong.
The Lakers have put together a strong roster to surround James as he goes for his fifth NBA title. Assuming James does return to the team, the Lakers will have a great chance to put up banner 18 if everyone can stay healthy.
