Lakers News: LeBron James' Charter School Reacts To Testing Woes

They are standing by their students!

LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has been able to accomplish so many noble achievements off the court lately but everybody always seems to commend him for building his 'I Promise' school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. It's amazing to see how James has been able to invest in his community after so many years of dominance in the NBA and at the end of the day, he wants kids in his position to have multiple opportunities to succeed in life.

However, his school has been in plenty of headlines as of late because of a certain class entering their eighth grade school year that reportedly has not been able to pass their state exams in the math category for the last three years. The internet has been reacting to these reports and calling out the administration of this school for not being able to to change these results.

On the flip side, it appears that while school officials are not pleased to see that this class has consistently been unable to meet the required marks to pass, they are focused on seeing growth and improvement which they argue that they have.

“Our students have not yet met the grade-level mastery mark but they are demonstrating growth based on iReady scores," said Principal Stephanie Davis. "Of our incoming 8th graders, 32% met their annual typical growth in reading while 11% met their stretch goal for the year. Despite not mastering the grade-level standards, 42% of students demonstrated growth in iReady math across their 7th grade school year.”

State exams are far different than normal tests and students' overall grades in their classes. It's very easy to mix up reports and think that this class has been failing math in all aspects.

However, James has entrusted certain individuals to help these kids succeed and hopefully the improvements continue!
