Lakers News: LeBron James Could Break 40K-Point Barrier This Week

We could be seeing another historic event very soon.

Etched in countless places across the NBA's history books, LeBron James will look to achieve arguably his most remarkable accolade this week: breaking the 40,000-point mark. 

Just 74 points away from the barrier currently, James has a chance to eclipse the mark in one of the team's games this week, where they take on the Clippers on Wednesday, the Wizards on Thursday, and the Nuggets on Saturday. 

He won't eclipse the total in the Clippers game, but he definitely should in the Nuggets game, assuming he plays in the two previous games. Averaging 25 points per game, the math works out perfectly for him to reach the mark in the Nuggets game. 

This would be James' most impressive accolade largely because not only is he the first person to achieve this honor, but he would likely be the sole record-holder for an extremely long time.
