Lakers News: Long-Time Trade Target Possibly Headed To Lottery Team In Another Deal

The Lakers could miss out on his services yet again.

After years of talk that your Los Angeles Lakers would one day acquire sharp-shooting guard Buddy Hield, it seems like it may never actually come to fruition.

Hield has been discussed as part of a bigger trade package that would likely be going to the Toronto Raptors for forward Pascal Siakam, a general deal that has been floated by Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic..

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report adds that the trade offer likely will include Hield.

"While Siakam is on that list, maybe even at the top, the asking price from Toronto is probably too high. The bait offered is believed to be Buddy Hield, Bruce Brown Jr. and one of Indiana's two first-round picks in the 2024 draft (it has its own and another that is likely via the Oklahoma City Thunder or LA Clippers)."

Per Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report

Assuming Hield is part of the trade, it's unlikely he will end up in Los Angeles. The Lakers have been after him for years, but couldn't even find a way to bring him to town.

Maybe the Raptors will buy him out since he has an expiring contract. But that seems like a pipedream for a player of his talent level.

The best chance for the Lakers, if they still want Hield, would be to see if they could swing a deal for him with Toronto if this trade goes down. Or they could wait until free agency to heavily go after him on the open market.

Either way, he has been a target for many years, and the Lakers are forever linked with him. The hope is that Hield does find his way to Los Angeles, as he would help address the three-point shooting needs of this Lakers team.
