Lakers News: Los Angeles Fans Celebrate LeBron James' Decision To Return For 2023-24

He's not hanging it up just yet!
In this story:

If there is anything LeBron James loves to do, it's build suspense around his name. Being one of the greatest basketball players of all time and one of the biggest celebrities on Earth today, he doesn't like people knowing his next move and when he pondered retirement at the end of the 2022-2023 season, it did feel like there was some truth behind it. It was by no means an easy year and just for the Los Angeles Lakers to end up in the Western Conference Finals, they had to do a complete 180.

However, all of those rumors are behind us now as James himself took the stage at the 2023 ESPY's to accept his special award for becoming the NBA's All-Time leading scorer and he made sure to address the elephant in the room. It was not time for him to retire just yet and he assured that he has plenty more left in the tank.

Obviously, Lakers fans were extremely happy to hear us even though the vast majority believed he would indeed be coming back all along. LA's front office made a number of great moves to keep their playoff core together from last season while also signing other veterans so James wouldn't have to carry such a heavy load.

One fan believes James will stick around for a couple of more seasons!

"LeBron really not retiring until at least year 23. Goat"

Other fans immediately expressed their excitement in the replies.

James is not coming back for just any reason, he still has his eyes on that fifth ring and with the roster he has around him right now, it is very possible. Of course, he'll have to face the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets in the West but it's a long season... anything can happen!
