Lakers News: Nike CEO Reveals Huge Date for Relaunch of Kobe Brand
Kobe Bryant's signature brand with Nike has been widely recognized as one of the best collaborations among any professional basketball player and shoe company. Along with superstar LeBron James and Kevin Durant, the late, great Kobe Bryant was the face of the hooping section of Nike for many years and so many young athletes grew up rocking numerous versions of his sneaker.
One thing that always stood out to me was how Bryant did his best to work with Nike and improve something about his shoe every time a new version rolled out. Back in 2008, the Black Mamba started a popular wave by introducing a low-cut Nike Zoom Kobe sneaker that he proclaimed to be one of the lightest and lowest shoes to ever be worn on the court. Since then, so many athletes have tried to mimic that style.
Unfortunately, after the legend's passing, Vanessa Bryant and the Kobe Bryant estate were in the beginning stages of their own brand due to Kobe's contract with Nike ending and the manufacturing of his shoes was halted. But then in March of 2022, Vanessa took to Instagram to announce that they had reached a successful agreement with Nike and that the relaunch of Kobe's signature line would start again.
Since then, a number of Kobe's most popular shoes have hit the Nike SNKRS app and shelves in store such as the 'Protro Mambacita Sweet 16's' and the 'Protro Grinch's'.
And now, Nike's own CEO John Donahoe has reveled that the entire Kobe brand will be back very soon!
"Nike CEO John Donahoe says Nike is planning to “relaunch the Kobe brand” ahead of Kobe Day on Aug. 24 this summer."
We cannot wait to see some of the best shoes and merchandise become available to the public again!
