Lakers News: Surprise Starter Announced To Replace Cam Reddish Vs Mavericks
Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham made a surprise decision for his new starting shooting guard, in the absence of Cam Reddish.
Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports that second-year swingman Max Christie will join LA's starting five tonight, as Los Angeles hosts the Dallas Mavericks on the second night of a back-to-back.
Reddish is out with a sore groin, which he suffered midway through the opening quarter of LA's eventual 131-99 loss to the Utah Jazz last night. Christie, a 6'6" shooting guard the Lakers selected out of Michigan State with the No. 35 pick in last year's draft, played 25 minutes with Reddish out of the lineup.
Darvin Ham appears set on separating guards D'Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves, who kicked off the year as Los Angeles' starting backcourt.
The status of two other Los Angeles starters remains very up in the air. Center Anthony Davis is considered probable to play through his left adductor/hip spasms, while All-NBA power forward LeBron James is questionable to suit up, as he's dealing with a left calf contusion.
