Lakers News: Team USA Passes Over Austin Reaves In Top Best Training Camp Player Vote

Can't be too mad about this one...

Your Los Angeles Lakers have none other than Austin Reaves representing them on Team USA during the 2023 FIBA World Cup and he will be able to continue showing the basketball world what he has to offer for years to come. His game is tailor-made to fit in on almost any squad and even though we've only seen USA face off in one scrimmage so far against another country, he was already putting in work.

Even before that recent scrimmage against Puerto Rico, Team USA opened up a number of their practices to the media and fans were able to watch footage of the young stars battling it out in a number of organized games. Their select team, a handful of younger players that did not make the senior roster, also participated and the likes of Jalen Green, Cade Cunningham and more all faced off against Reaves and the rest of the World Cup squad.

The Athletic decided to hold an informal poll after a number of practices were held to see who the players believed was the one guy that stood out and impressed the most compared to everybody else. With so much talent suiting up for Team USA this summer, this could've went in a number of directions with Anthony Edwards, Mikal Bridges and Reaves of course all having solid arguments.

However, the team opted to roll with Memphis Grizzlies superstar Jaren Jackson Jr. as the best player due to his energy and elite presence down low.

"By a vote of his peers, Jaren Jackson Jr. was selected the “best,” or “most impressive” or “stand out” player of the now-completed FIBA training camp, according to an informal poll by The Athletic of the entire Team USA roster, Jackson included."

Jackson is one of the only big men on the roster so he has to work twice as hard whenever he's on the court. Even though LA faced off against Memphis in the playoffs, we do enjoy seeing him share the court with Reaves!
