Lakers News: What Pundit Believes New LA Forward Should Develop In Offseason
The Los Angeles Lakers hope to bring out the best in a number of their role players this coming season as they look to embark on a journey filled with health, great chemistry and another championship. D'Angelo Russell himself confirmed that all LA needed was one training camp under their belts and they will get that very soon.
However, we have learned that when it comes to championship-level teams, every guy ranging from the number one option to the player at the end of the bench must buy in. Communication and energy from the bench are just as important as on the court and even looking at the Lakers' 2020 title team, the likes of Jared Dudley and J.R. Smith were important veterans even when they did not get minutes.
But then you have a new Lakers wing in Cam Reddish, someone who entered the NBA just a few years ago with a ton of hype but hasn't been able to live up to it just yet. He inked a minimum deal with the purple and gold to join another big market team that will be contending next year but he'll have to prove he deserves playing time over Taurean Prince and Max Christie.
Yahoo Sports' Robert Marvi broke down some areas of Reddish's game that he must polish in order to stay on the floor such as on-ball defense and spot-up shooting but he also compared his potential role to that of Trevor Ariza and I hope it ends up being spot on.
"One’s past doesn’t have to equal one’s future, and Reddish is still young enough to turn his career around. Perhaps he can look at the career of Trevor Ariza, a forward similar in build to him. Ariza didn’t do much in his first three NBA seasons, but the following year, he was traded to the Lakers, and he quickly started to blossom. Los Angeles needs productive 3-and-D wings, and Reddish has an opportunity to become one for the first time."

Ariza too entered the league with a ton of noise but it took a more mature role with the Lakers to truly tap into his potential. Let's see if the former Duke product can do the same!
