Lakers News: Why Pundit Relishes Fit Of New Forward Taurean Prince

Prince should fit in nicely alongside the King!
In this story:

One of the better moves that the Los Angeles Lakers made to open free agency was snagging former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince on a one-year deal worth $4.5 million. The team used the bi-annual exception on Prince to bring him to LA and he should fit in nicely with the Lakers.

Many were shocked at the deal for Prince because he probably could have gotten more money elsewhere due to his skillset but maybe he just wanted to be in LA. It could be a situation where he wanted to take a one-year prove it type deal with the Lakers to get his market value up even higher for next season.

Notable NBA analyst Bill Simmons loved the move and had this to say on Prince joining the Lakers within his podcast.

"They got Taurean Prince, who I f***ing love, I’ve loved that guy for like five years”

Per The Bill Simmons Podcast

Clearly Simmons is a fan of Prince and like others, thinks that he will be a good fit.

Prince averaged 9.1 points for the Wolves last season and shot 38.1 percent from beyond the arch. He gives the Lakers a nice wing player that can help space the floor well and he will give the team above average defense as well. Prince is a long, athletic wing that should pair nicely alongside LeBron James.

He is the ultimate three-and-D player and LA landed him on a small contract. Prince is a career 37.2 percent three-point shooter so the sample size is large enough to see the production.

Simmons added on about what he thinks of Prince.

"I just think he’s not going to be afraid of big games, you can throw that dude out and he’s fine."

Per The Bill Simmons Podcast

This was a great signing for the Lakers and gives them a type of player that they haven't had in awhile. LA has a ton of wing players now and Prince should give them a real scoring threat to work with.

The King now has a Prince on the team and the royal setting is in place.
