Lakers News: Writer Believes Austin Reaves Could Return For Team USA

We could see multiple Lakers in Paris next summer!

Whenever Team USA is building their roster for whatever tournament they will be participating in, they have to think about how each player complements everything. Normally, Team USA goes star-hunting and will try to bring the best of the best.

For the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Los Angeles Lakers All-Star LeBron James has an interest in playing, and he wants to bring along some of the better NBA players alongside him. It would create a powerful team for the Americans, and it would give them a great shot to win the gold medal.

But even international teams do need a few role players that can easily fit into a smaller role on the team. One of those players could be Lakers guard Austin Reaves, who just finished participating in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup with Team USA.

Reaves was one of the better players on the roster, and he now has that experience to play off of. He could be a perfect player on the Olympic team next season alongside all of the top-tier stars.

“USA Basketball deep thinkers want players of all skill levels to come to the program with the belief that they will be better for it, which is exactly what happened with Reaves.”

Per Joe Vardon of The Athletic

Reaves has the ability to control an offense and play within a defined role. It is what he does with the Lakers, and he showed he can do it during his time with Team USA this summer.

“I feel like I have competed at a high level,” Reaves said. “Obviously I have things to work on, but I feel like I can hit the ground running for the first of the year.”

Per The Athletic

Team USA will need to round out the roster with players just like Reaves, so why not him? It makes complete sense, and he already has that familiarity playing with James.

With his strong play during this offseason, there could be a good chance that we see Reaves heading to Paris next summer.
