Lakers Rumors: Insider Proposes Wild Trade to Bring 2-Time All-Star Guard to LA

Would this make LA more of a title contender?

It's being reported that your Los Angeles Lakers are already looking to possibly add a third-star-level player to their roster even with the 2023-24 NBA season just having started. LA doesn't have time to waste, so they could be out on the trade market sooner rather than later.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report recently put together some trade ideas for the Lakers to consider if they wanted to add a third star to their roster. One of them includes them going after a multi-time All-Star who has played his last few seasons with the Chicago Bulls.

"The Trade: Zach LaVine, Torrey Craig and Terry Taylor for D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Taurean Prince Jalen Hood-Schifino and a lightly-protected 2029 first-rounder. LaVine waives his trade bonus to join the Lakers. LA waits until closer to the end of December to sign a 14th player at the vet min."

Landing a talent like the Chicago Bulls star shooting guard would give the Lakers a legitimate three-headed monster at the top of their lineup. His ability to put the ball in the basket would help this team's offense improve greatly.

They have struggled to score the ball to start the season, so LaVine could fix some issues. He also has spoken in the past about playing alongside LeBron James, so he would be highly motivated to be on a winning team.

The biggest roadblock for the Lakers would be the contract that LaVine is on, and their willingness to take it on. The Bulls trading him would also mean that they are completely heading into a rebuild, something they have been hesitant to do previously.

"Zach LaVine is arguably the team's top star, but he's almost 29, playing through knee issues and is owed $178.1 million over the next four years (the final season is a player option)."

Per Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report

LaVine would help the Lakers greatly for the next season or two, but in his final few years, his contract could present issues. LA has been hesitant to make deals for guys with long-term money left on the contract. But would they change that for LaVine? Well, that remains unknown at this time.
