Shortly after it was announced that former Miami Heat point guard Gabe Vincent would be leaving South Beach to join the Los Angeles Lakers, details started coming out about his departure. Vincent wanted to stay with Miami but the Heat weren't willing to give him the money that he wanted so the un-drafted player took his talents elsewhere.

Among these details, it was said that Heat President Pat Riley told Vincent how important he was to the Miami team and that he wanted him to stay. Vincent still left and honestly, it's hard to turn down a legend like Riley. All the respect

Vincent is set to earn around $11 million a season from the Lakers for the next three years. It's quite the contract for a player that was un-drafted and worked his way up the NBA ranks.

LA loved his ability to shoot the ball from distance at a high level and his tenacious hounding of guards on the perimeter on defense. He will bring some extra toughness to this Lakers squad and gives them a strong backup point guard.

There was some talk about Vincent possibly starting for LA but once the team re-signed D'Angelo Russell, that was put to bed. Think of Vincent as a replacement player for Dennis Schröder. He is a little younger than Schröder and can shoot the ball at a higher rate.

This was a great get for Rob Pelinka and company, helping the Lakers build their roster for next season. Vincent will provide the team with some extra postseason experience form his playoff runs with the Heat as well.
