Lakers News: Where Writer Wants LeBron James To Conclude Career

Should LeBron stay in LA?

Once your Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets during the Western Conference Finals this spring, All-Star small forward LeBron James brought life to potential rumors that he could retire this summer.

While most around the league don't see him actually stepping away right now, this does signal that the end of his playing days is near. It's something that many don't want to acknowledge due to him still being towards the top of his game. But it's the cold, hard reality.

James has one more season under contract with the Lakers and then a massive play option that he could choose to decline or accept. The thought is that he will play out this next season and then decide what to do. His son Bronny James will be entering the NBA after next season as well and the veteran James has spoken at length about his desire to play on a NBA court with his son. So he could decide to follow his son to wherever he gets drafted. But Geoff Swartz of Bleacher Report wants James to finish his career right back where it started.

"Another option exists for James as he draws closer to retirement yet still wants to compete for championships: Coming home, again."

Per Bleacher Report

Now the idea of James returning back to Cleveland is a cool one but in all honesty, it doesn't make a ton of sense in my opinion. Swartz brings up that it would be a pressure less situation for James this time around but while Cleveland is home for him, he has made a new home out in Los Angeles. His family lives out here, his kids go to school here and his wife seems very happy out here. James has talked about his family and their wants impacting his decisions as well.

While it would be a nice finishing touch on a legendary career, James owes the city of Cleveland nothing. He brought them a title. He did everything he could for them. And he left on excellent terms in an almost perfect way.

Going back home would only extend the story rather than keeping it closed. James is better off to stay in LA or follow his son in the NBA. Now, if Bronny James were to get drafted by the Cavaliers then that would be a hell of a story. But unless that happens, James is better off not going back home.

His last year or two will be fascinating to watch play out and make sure you don't take him for granted during it. We likely won't see another player like James again in our lifetime, if ever.
