Lakers News: LeBron James Expert Dubious LA Will Sign Free Agent Draymond Green
Recently Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Lakers star LeBron James were spotted hanging out together in France on vacation, sparking all kinds of rumors about the two teaming up with the Lakers next season. The timing was odd as well as Green had just declined his player option and was now a free agent.
Green and James would form a nice paring with the Lakers if it ever came to fruition. But it's extremely unlikely due to money reasons and the mutual interest between Green and Golden State for him to return. ESPN NBA Insider Brian Windhorst shot down any talk of Green possibly joining LA on the show Get Up.
“First off, let me just say that Draymond’s opting out is 100 percent expected – it is not a surprise. We’ve known about it for weeks if not months,” Windhorst said. “It is a procedural move that we did not, was no issue with this happening. Absolutely, from what I am told, there is dialogue between the Warriors and Draymond with an intention that he would remain there.”
Per Windhorst
Green to the Lakers was always something of a pipe dream. A fun thought for fans to see two of the more competitive players in the league team up. The close friends would make for great TV and headlines but it's just not meant to be.
Green will be back with the Warriors as they look to get back on championship track and James hopefully doesn't retire and comes back to LA. In all likelihood, we see Golden State and LA matched up come playoff time again, with these two helping to lead their respective teams.
