Magic Starting 5: Orlando Hopes for NBA Draft Lottery Luck Again

The Magic Insider lists five of the biggest NBA storylines in addition to relevant Orlando Magic news and analysis.
In this story:

1. CAN WEMBY 'CATAPULT' MAGIC?

"The Magic already were a fun team, and the addition of Wembanyama would catapult the franchise up several levels," The Athletic wrote. "It would be stratospherically fun to see a frontcourt of Wembanyama, Bol Bol and Jonathan Isaac."

2. MOSLEY REPRESENTING MAGIC AT LOTTERY

The Orlando Magic is looking to become the first team since 2016-17 to receive the No. 1 overall pick in consecutive years on Tuesday night.

In order for that to happen, the team is hoping a little bit of luck from last year's draw will help it out again.

Head coach Jamahl Mosley, who represented the organization to get the No. 1 pick a year ago, will be back in the hot seat Tuesday night for the lottery.

3. MAGIC EX EVAN FOURNIER LOOKING FOR NEW HOME

“There’s no way they’re going to keep me. I would be very surprised if they did," Fournier said, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post. "My season has been over for a very long time, actually. This officially is the end, but my season was over a long time ago. It took me a good month to understand that."

4. LAKERS VS. NUGGETS GAME 1

"The 2023 Western Conference has been set for a few days now, but Game 1 is finally on the horizon. The Los Angeles Lakers were able to dispatch the defending-champion Golden State Warriors to get to this point, while the Denver Nuggets cruised through the Phoenix Suns. Two of the league’s biggest superstars will be in action with LA’s LeBron James and Denver’s Nikola Jokic."

Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.

5. NBA DRAFT LOTTERY COUNTDOWN

The Magic is participating in today's NBA Draft Lottery, where it will be revealed if Orlando will have the opportunity to take Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick.

Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. EST on ESPN.
