Jonathan Isaac Reveals, Exhibits Identity for Magic
The Orlando Magic was up against the Phoenix Suns in its last game, who has been one of the most imposing offensive teams in the NBA, but the team's defense got the better of Devin Booker and company.
Coming into the game, the Suns had been held to under 100 points only twice, but the Magic was able to do just that with a fantastic performance on that end of the floor, especially in the fourth quarter. Forward Jonathan Isaac talked more about how much pride the team takes in its defense in his postgame interview.
"That’s the identity of this team," Isaac said. "And when we really lock into it, there’s no team that we can’t stop. And to do it tonight against them - hold them to really 11 points in the fourth quarter."
The Suns only scored 13 points in the final period, and two of them were at the free-throw line, so the Magic, especially Isaac, takes pride in that defense. Isaac finished the game with one steal and two blocks, and the team did great in both of those stat categories over the course of the game.
Magic Must 'Come Together' Ahead of Road Trip, Says Banchero
The Magic finished with 12 steals and seven blocks, but in addition to that, it was able to force a whopping 23 turnovers by the Suns. If the team can continue to perform on that end of the court like this, then it can take some pressure off of the Magic on the offensive end, especially if the team is having a rough shooting night,
The Magic will be back in action tonight against Luka Dončić and the Dallas Mavericks. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET in American Airlines Center.
