Orlando Magic 'Figuring Out Its Identity', Says Franz Wagner
Despite a tough loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, the Orlando Magic has had noticeable improvement to start the season.
Through the team's first 10 games last season, the Magic was 2-8, with five of its losses being right in a row in the first five games of the season. The Magic's roster stayed the same for the most part from last season, and as a result, it has allowed the team to get better together.
Head coach Jamahl Mosley has been vocal about wanting to keep the same core group of guys, as he wants his players to learn together and improve as a result. This is exactly what has happened so far this season, and Franz Wagner spoke more on this in his postgame interview on Tuesday.
"In all our games, we’re getting leads, that’s always a good thing," Wagner said. "We already had a couple games where we gave up the lead later in the game but overall we’re figuring out our identity as a team… We’re hanging our hat on the defensive end and moving the ball offensively... Just that identity and being able to execute that every night as we get more games together, that’s going to help a lot. We’ve improved a lot from last year"
So far this season, the Magic is top 10 in the league in the points that they have allowed, only allowing 107.9 points per game. And with how offensive-minded teams are nowadays, that number is very encouraging.
The Magic is looking to continue to prove all of its doubters wrong, and the team's next chance to do that will be tonight against Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET from the United Center.
